Security of Personal Information as a Component of Information and Communication Security of a Personality

   Relevance. In modern society, the issue of ensuring the safety of a person's life becomes relevant due to the increase in criminal manifestations in the information and communication medium.
   The purpose is to consider the state of security of personal information as a component of information and communication security of a personality.
   The objectives to be solved in the process of research are as follows: disclosure of the conceptual content of personal information security as a component of personal information and communication security; identification of a subjective assessment of the safety of life in the information and communication medium of a digital society; determination of the role of cybercrime in violating the inviolability of the private sphere; consideration of areas of personal information security.
   Methodology. The research methodology is based on the concept of the information and communication medium as an anthropo-socio-technical phenomenon and on the scientific and legal concept of protecting the personal interests. Analytical methods of processing and interpreting data of sociological surveys, final reports of state departments are used in the work.
   Results. The author has established that the security of personal information should be considered as part of the information and communication security of the person, which is related to the protection of information about the person from external influences. Assessment by the population of the safety of their life in the information and communication medium of modern society is extremely low. Cybercrime in the form of phishing and social engineering is the basis of a threat to the private sphere of a person's life that can inflict moral and material detriment. In the fight against this phenomenon, the majority of citizens rely on themselves to develop their skills to ensure the security of personal information.
   Conclusions. Citizens are beginning to get used to their life activity in conditions of constant information threats and risks, relying on the development of their skills to ensure the security of personal information. To begin, preventive measures to ensure the security of data on the Internet are certainly an excellent step, but while ensuring the confidentiality of information, it is not possible to rely exclusively on technology - social and psychological tools for the protection of personal information need to be developed.
