Abstract
Relevance. The development of the Internet has provided significant changes in the production and management activities of organizations. The problem of assessing the achieved level of use of global networks by organizations, as well as forecasting the development of high-speed Internet is of considerable interest and is relevant. At the same time, the ability to transmit and receive data based on modern information technologies is important.
The purpose is evaluation of indicators characterizing the speed of Internet access by organizations located in different regions of Russia based on the development of economic models. The article is aimed at obtaining a certain empirical and methodological contribution to the knowledge about the level of use of high-speed Internet in the activities of organizations, as well as forecasting its development.
Objectives. In the course of the research, the tasks of developing a methodology for assessing Internet speed in the regions of Russia, collecting and processing information based on the results of a survey of heads of organizations on the speed of Internet access in their regions, developing models approximating the collected empirical data, determining regional averages of the prevailing Internet speeds by groups of enterprises were solved.
Methodology. In the course of the study, economic and mathematical modeling was used based on the development of normal distribution density functions. The official information of the Federal State Statistics Service for 2020 was considered as the initial empirical data.
Results. Four indicators were studied that describe the current level of access speed of organizations to the Internet. At the same time, based on the results of a survey of heads of organizations, the distribution by region of the prevailing Internet access speeds was estimated in four groups of speeds: less than 2 Mbps, from 2 to 30 Mbps, from 30.1 to 100 Mbps, above 100 Mbps.
Conclusions. The original results obtained have scientific novelty, since the methodology for assessing the values of indicators that describe the speed of information transmission in global networks used by organizations in the Russian regions has been substantiated and implemented; it is shown that in 2020 the average share of organizations that used the Internet at a speed of less than 2 Mbit/s was 19,4%. The average share of organizations with Internet speeds from 2,0 Mbit/s to 30,0 Mbit/s was 39,7%, and from 30,1 Mbit/s to 100,0 Mbit/s ‒ 2,4%.
