Development of Small Business as the Basis for Innovative Transformation of the Economy

   Relevance. The article describes the role of small business in the modern world. Today, small business has a significant impact on providing employment for the population, on the economic stability of the state. It characterizes the flexibility of the country's economy as a whole, that is, it shows its ability to adapt to the changing conditions of the world economy. Due to high competition, small businesses are introducing the achievements of scientific and technological progress, which effectively suppresses the tendency to stagnation.
   The purpose of the study is to consider the impact of small business on the economic development of the state.
   The objectives of the study were: the role of small business as the basis of economic growth is characterized, the performance indicators of small organizations in the Russian Federation are analyzed, conclusions about the development of small business are formulated.
   The methodology of the study is based on the system-functional method of research, the use of statistical data. The source base consisted of scientific works of scientists-specialists in the field of regional economic policy, regulatory and informational materials of Rosstat, documents of a strategic nature.
   Results. The main result of the study was an assessment of the impact of small business on the economic development of the state.
   Conclusions. Small business is an important and integral part of the socio-economic system of any country. It allows to ensure the stability of the economy by creating conditions for employment of the population, ensures high labor productivity, promotes the development of innovations in entrepreneurship, all this has a beneficial effect on the economic growth of the national economy. But the effective development of such a business is possible only with comprehensive assistance from the state and the implementation of programs to support small businesses.
