Socio-cultural portrait of the Kursk region in the context of modern modernization processes (based on the materials of a sociological study)

Abstract
The relevance of the study of the socio-cultural portrait of the Kursk region is due to the need to identify new and clarify old directions for the implementation of priority national projects, ways to modernize social institutions, as well as improve the welfare of provincial society and the investment image of the subject in the context of regional socio-cultural changes of modernity in order to ensure sustainable development not only of a single region, but also of the Russian state as a whole. Also, the conclusions obtained in the work are actualized by the lack of the latest modern research on this problem.
The purpose of the study is to determine the features of the socio–cultural characteristics and potential of the Kursk region in modern conditions on the basis of sociological research data.
Objectives: to diagnose the state of the standard of living and social well-being of the population of the Kursk region; to analyze the cultural potential, political activity of the population of the region; to determine the specifics of the socio-cultural characteristics of the Kursk region; to formulate proposals to improve the quality of life of the population of the region.
Methodology. The following methods of scientific cognition were used in the study: the comparative method, the method of questioning in the form of a questionnaire, the method of analysis, synthesis, systematization and generalization.
Results. The article examines the main spheres of life of the population of the Kursk region: the socio-cultural sphere, the political activity of the inhabitants of the region, the financial situation of the Kuryans. According to the sociological research, the attractive and unattractive features of the region have been identified, the region's place in terms of human development among other subjects of the country. An assessment of certain problematic issues of the life of the local population has been obtained.
Conclusions. It has been established that the Kursk region has significant potential for development, and a number of problems have also been identified in certain areas of the region's life (from medical care to the precarious financial situation of residents). To resolve these problems, we consider it necessary to adjust certain areas of the internal policy of the region, including through the implementation of priority national projects, by modernizing some social processes with the help of legal, organizational and managerial tools in the context of regional socio-cultural changes.
