Value Orientations of the Russians in the Context of Social Transformations

   Relevance. In the article, the priority values of the modern multi-ethnic Russian society are considered in comparison with the traditional values underlying the culture of our country. The relevance of the article is due to the fact that it discusses the transformation of priority values of a modern Russian under the influence of economic, geopolitical, socio-cultural changes in society.
   The purpose of the study is to trace to what transformations and to what extent the values of representatives of modern Russian society are subjected during the crisis period.
   Objectives: to determine the main value orientations of a modern Russian with the help of a sociological survey; to analyze the data obtained as a result of a sociological survey; to identify changes in value orientations in the conditions of social transformations.
   Methodology. The research methods were a sociological survey, comparative and comparative methods.
   Results. The sociological surveys conducted by the author of the article in Moscow with a difference of three months (in the period from January 10 to January 20, 2022 and in the period from April 10 to April 20, 2022), in which both Muscovites and residents of other regions of the Russian Federation took part, which indicates that the sample is sufficiently representative, allow us to conclude that during the crisis period there is a noticeable change in the personal values of a Russian: material well-being (money, career), and family and interpersonal relationships (friends, acquaintances, parents are considered as values), acting as a guarantee of stability.
   Conclusion. It is concluded that in the period of cataclysms there is a return to traditional values.
